Distant Oaks combines medieval, renaissance, and baroque music with a love of Celtic traditions, inspiring a sense of ancient beauty and timeless elegance. They offer traditional and newly-composed songs from Scotland and Ireland, with vocals in Gaelic and English, accompanied by an exciting panoply of instruments including guitar, citole, recorders, whistle, bagpipes, Celtic harp, viola da gamba, and stepdancing. The group, which recently released its third album, Against the Tide, features Deborah White, her sons, Jared White and Shayne White, and Julie Jeffrey.
