guitar artists double-bill

Guitarist Adam Levy balances his harmonic sophistication with an earthy, bluesy sensibility, bringing a sense of exploration and fun to whatever he does, from no-holds-barred, avant-jazz improv to street-smart soul. The New York native who has worked with Tracy Chapman and John Zorn, has recently released an album of original jazz tunes, Buttermilk Channel. Will Bernard, known for his solid guitar chops and clear, linear improvisations, first gained public attention playing with fellow Berkeley High School Jazz Band alumnus, Peter Apfelbaum, in the ground-breaking Hieroglyphics Ensemble. Will, with guitarist Charlie Hunter, won a Grammy nomination in 1997 in the group T. J. Kirk, and has been involved with a colorful array of groups including hip-hoppers The Coup, Parisian traditionalists, the Baguette Quartet, groove/jazz band, Motherbug, and his own 4-tet. Will and Adam explore new territory in a variety of configurations, joined by Ches Smith and Jim Kassis on drums and percussion and Todd Sickafoose on bass.
