Dick Holdstock made his way to California from his native Sittingbourne, Kent, in the south of England. Allen MacLeod moved here from Armadale, West Lothian, Scotland. They met as solo performers at the Santa Rosa Music Festival in 1975, and they’ve been playing together ever since, digging deep into their English and Scottish roots for outrageous stories and traditional folk songs. Dick and Allen trade off on guitar and mandolin, and their voices fit together as comfortably as a ploughman and a pint of ale. Whether they’re singing a cappella or inspiring the audience to join in, they bring heart and soul to their renditions of vivid traditional songs and tender ballads of the British Isles.
