Hot Club of Cowtown
Since its beginnings in the late 1990s, the Hot Club of Cowtown’s star has continued to rise as its reputation for jaw-dropping virtuosity and unforgettable live shows has become the band’s global brand. Lauded for its “down-home melodies and exuberant improvisation” (The Times, London), the Hot Club has always woven a combination of seemingly disparate styles together to its own magical effect, setting up camp “at that crossroads where country meets jazz and chases the blues away” (The Independent), remaining “conscious always that above all else, the music is for dancing and an old-fashioned good time” (New York Times). The band’s musical alchemy has been described as “another breathless journey in the Texas tardis” (The Times, London), while American Songwriter observed that “the excellent three players of this band could be doing anything but have chosen to honor the greats of jazz and swing with their sound.” The Belfast Telegraph calls the Hot Club of Cowtown “a pretty much perfect country trio at the very top of their game,” and the New York Times, in a live review the trio as armed with “an arsenal full of technique and joy.”

Chris Thomas King
Chris Thomas King is a Grammy award winning New Orleans musician and actor. One of the world’s greatest blues guitar players. Chris Thomas King is also a celebrated actor from Oscar winning movies O Brother, Where Art Thou and Ray.
Born in 1962, guitarist Chris Thomas King became the last major folk blues discovery of the 20th Century when he was discovered in Louisiana in 1985 by a folklorist from the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D. C. He was introduced to the world the following year by venerable folk label Arhoolie Records as an authentic folk blues successor to Huddie Ledbetter, Muddy Waters, Mississippi John Hurt and Manse Lipscomb.

Lucibela
Lucibela is a smile; a fresh breeze ruffling the bougainvillea blooms and wave tops.
The young Cabo-Verdean was born in 1986 on São Nicolau, one of the Barlavento islands – the ‘windward’ isles to the north of the Sahel archipelago. Now she has made her first album, Laço umbilical, the cord that links the singer to her land. Over its thirteen tracks, Lucibela–the–voice–of–gold explores the issues involved: being a woman and a Cabo–Verdean, living far away and loving with sensuality and grace. The secret of Lucibela’s extraordinary vocal technique lies in her ability to explore the deep register of Brazil’s great sambistas while adding a thrilling vibrato.

Alphabet Rockers are 2018 GRAMMY Nominees, known for making music that makes change. Their intergenerational hip hop concerts are the soundtrack for social justice, packing the Freight & Salvage with every Patchwork Series show for kids (age 4-10). Their music inspires families around the world to be proud of who you are, speak out and stand up for justice.

Steve Meckfessel
Alameda’s Steve Meckfessel joined his first band, Size Five, when he was in junior high school in Sacramento. As a student at UC Santa Cruz, he played in a folk duo. In 2000 he formed Stone Soup, a vintage rock and roll cover band. When he recorded his first solo effort, Twice, in 2004, he brought in the founder of his junior high band, Peter Andrews, to play on the album. The title song was used on the long-running television show, JAG. The website Minor 7th praised Steve’s second album, Under Beautiful Skies, for its “plainspoken wisdom” and “ironies we can believe in,” calling the album “lovely” and “moving.” Under Beautiful Skies made the Americana charts and was played on stations throughout the, US, Canada, Australia and Europe. Steve has co-written songs with Bob Hahn, Peter Andrews, Jeff Lionz, Barbara Higbie and Keith Greeninger..

Emma’s Revolution with Vicki Randle

Emma’s Revolution is the dynamic, award-winning activist duo of Pat Humphries & Sandy O, whose songs have been sung for the Dalai Lama, praised by Pete Seeger, and covered by Holly Near. Emma’s Revolution has shared the stage with Pete Seeger, Holly Near, Joan Baez and more, performing at concerts, peace & justice events and mass demonstrations across the country.
Renowned singer and multi-instrumentalist, Vicki Randle, will join on vocals, bass and cajon. Vicki was the first woman of The Tonight Show Band and has recorded and toured with Aretha Franklin, Mavis Staples, Lionel Richie and more.

Adrienne Shamszad is a singer-songwriter known for her special blend of folk, soul, blues and Eastern influenced improvisational vocals. Her lyrics are poetic, intimate and inspired by the mystic Poets of Iran as much as the folk poet-songwriters of the 60s and 70s. Her strong and soulful voice, skillful and complex guitar playing and bold performance style have made her a popular California performer for well over a decade.

Maurice Tani
San Francisco native, Maurice Tani is a “rye-to-romantic” singer-songwriter with seven albums to his credit -the latest being The Lovers Card, released on the Little Village label. With his band, 77 El Deora, Tani has been the source of untold, but exquisite suffering on the Bay Area Americana scene for over 15 years.
Tani uses the term, “Supercalifornigraphic” to describe his particular flavor of Americana. While rooted in country music, Tani’s writing is centered on a West Coast perspective. “Though much of my material is based on fictional characters and situations, I still write what I know. I’m not particularly comfortable or interested in the rural imagery of tractors, 4x4s or general agriculture common in much country music. What attracts me most about country is the story telling side of it. My stories are more likely to be centered around an urban experience. I’m a Californian from a large metropolitan area and I write about the things that hold my attention. I think of these songs as a sort of cinema for the blind. Short musical narratives of life on the left coast.”

Singer, songwriter, guitarist, and composer Diana Gameros was born into a musical family surrounded by traditional Mexican songs of love and revolution. The first of her family to receive formal music lessons, Ms. Gameros left Mexico as a teenager to study piano and recording technology in Michigan. During those formative years, she soaked up the sounds of classical music, underground rock, the avant-garde, world music, and jazz. Ms.Gameros has since shared the stage with the Oakland Symphony, the San Francisco Symphony, Bebel Gilberto, and Natalia Lafourcade, among others.
